An Oasis in a Wicked Land

Can you imagine what the world was like before the Flood? Genesis 6:5 says, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Much discussion and planning goes into every facet of the Ark Encounter. The theme park designers are looking at the commonalities between the layout of homes, markets, and other civic features in early Mesopotamian civilizations.

For example, while the layout is going through the concept stage for Noah’s house, it’s important that we look to the Bible as we think about what his surroundings might have been like. His home must have been an oasis in the midst of an evil world. Did he grow his own food? How did he live? Did he have a workshop? What must his kitchen have looked like?

Visitors to the Ark Encounter will gain a better understanding of what life must have been like for Noah and the culture leading up to the catastrophic events of his day.
