Learn About Christ’s Death and Resurrection at the Ark Encounter

by Ark Encounter on April 6, 2023

This weekend, many around the world will be celebrating Easter, or Resurrection Sunday—a day set aside to remember and celebrate the resurrection of the Lord from the grave. As the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:12–20, it’s because of Christ’s resurrection from the grave that we have hope both now and for eternity! And you can learn more about Christ’s death and resurrection when you visit the Ark Encounter.

The Crucifixion

Because each of us has sinned against God, we need his forgiveness, but the blood of animals could never take away our sins. We needed a perfect substitute to die in our place. For God so loved the world that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to become a man to pay for our sins through his sacrificial death on the cross. Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, is our Passover lamb whose blood can take away all of our sins.

The Empty Tomb

Three days after being crucified, Jesus Christ rose from the dead just as he promised. On that morning, an angel descended from heaven and rolled back the stone from the door of the tomb: “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said” (Matthew 28:2–6).

This spectacular miracle confirmed that Jesus Christ was exactly who he claimed to be—the Son of God. The resurrection also demonstrated his power over death, guaranteeing the hope of eternal life to all who repent of their sins and believe in him.

Special Easter Presentations

We invite your family to join us in celebrating Christ’s death and resurrection at the Ark Encounter this Friday and Saturday. We are offering two special presentations that will help you learn even more about these biblical events. On Friday, April 7, Dr. Georgia Purdom will share “Anatomy and Physiology of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ” at 3 p.m. You are invited to experience Jesus’ journey from the garden of Gethsemane to Calvary through a detailed analysis of his medical and emotional condition in addition to powerful clips from the movie The Passion of the Christ. You will be sure to gain a greater appreciation of Jesus’ sacrifice this Easter season.

On Saturday, April 8, Tim Chaffey will present “He is Risen: Evidences of the Resurrection” inside the Answers Center. He’ll explain the importance of the resurrection, examine the “many infallible proofs” that Jesus rose, and critique the various theories proposed by skeptics to explain away the truth of the first glorious Easter morning.
