Ark Progress Report

by Ark Encounter on April 28, 2015

Last week was a very productive week. In addition to the precast concrete being delivered, the wall of the third tower and more of the piers were poured. Of course, there is other activity going on at the site, but to watch the towers and the piers going up is really impressive. This is especially true when you realize that the three masonry towers are going to be 70 feet high to help support the Ark to withstand wind forces of 120 miles per hour, exceeding code requirements. Within these towers are 4 exit stairways, totaling 62 feet wide, for emergency use and exiting a maximum occupancy of 10,000 people. These three towers are each 52 feet wide and the length of all three combined is 210 feet. These towers will also accommodate restrooms on each level.

As the work progresses, so does security at the site. Officers are now at the site afterhours and around the clock on weekends. Sadly, gone are the days when we put trust in people heeding the “No Trespassing” signs.
