Ship Getting Closer to Launch

by Ark Encounter on December 8, 2015

It’s full speed ahead here at the Ark Encounter site. We have less than seven months until our grand opening event. It seems like July 7, 2016, is just around the corner, and we are busier than ever as we prepare for our first 40 days and 40 nights. And remember, you have to have a boarding pass to be one of the first to enter the Ark.

As we’re in the middle of the Christmas season with Christmas Town going on now at the Creation Museum, it’s hard to believe that summer is coming soon. But don’t wait until the weather gets warmer to plan your family vacation to visit Noah and his family. Find out more about Renew-a-thon on the Answers in Genesis website.

Because of the size and scope of this project, and because of how unique this project is in our day and age, we have to plan ahead so that every visitor will have a convenient and safe place to park. We’re getting ready to pave the massive parking lot which will be able to accommodate about 4,000 vehicles. And plans are even being made to widen a road near I-75 to avoid extra traffic on the interstate. As we near completion of all the foundations for both the stern and bow, there are only a few items left that need to be completed, including some patching and cleaning. All of the steel stairs are completely installed.

And the heavy timber framing continues and, thankfully, temporary walls have been constructed to help seal out the Kentucky winter weather at each end of the ship so that the crew can continue to work in a more controlled environment. Please keep the Ark Encounter in prayer as work continues. Please especially pray that this outreach will even attract those who would not otherwise come in contact with the gospel message.
