5 Reasons to Visit the Ark Encounter in 2017

by Ark Encounter on December 27, 2016

As the year comes to an end, we thank God for His goodness and blessings at the Ark Encounter in 2016. We look forward to seeing what He will do in 2017 as we have many exciting additions and expansions planned for the upcoming year. In light of these exciting updates ahead, here are five reasons to visit the Ark Encounter in 2017.

Encounter New Animals

In 2017, you will see an expansion of the Ararat Ridge Zoo, which is located behind the Ark Encounter. With this expansion, we can add more unique animals to the zoo. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about biblical kinds and modern species at our outdoor teaching stage once it is completed.

Explore the Village

Our crew is also building a pre-Flood outdoor village (the West Village) between the lake and Emzara’s Buffet. The goal is to open this to guests by spring or summer, depending on the weather of course! This area will include food and retail kiosks, blacksmith and woodcraft shops, and a small stage area for music concerts and performances.

Walk Through Why the Bible is True

Inside the life-size Noah’s Ark, we will open a new exhibit toward the beginning of the year, called “Why the Bible Is True.” This new addition to the third deck will feature a college student witnessing to fellow students who are asking typical questions you might hear today. The exhibit will powerfully present the gospel to all who walk through.

Watch a New Movie

Next year we will be showing a different film on the third deck. Currently we are showing the Building of the Ark Encounter, but it will be replaced with a new film featuring the same actors from the Noah Interview but in a modern-day setting. See how Noah answers common questions that skeptics ask in both movies.

Learn About the Ark

You will also see a lot of new signage going up inside the Ark Encounter next year. Signage will explain the reptile and amphibian pots on the first deck, the storage pots and bags, and the different types of timber used. On the wall leading up to the half Ark model, signs will explain more of Noah’s story as well as feature a list of every animal kind that would have been required to be on the Ark.

Inside the “Rainbow Covenant” exhibit, we plan to add a video that will explain the different elements of this exhibit. You will also have the opportunity to read some of the different legends that are very similar to the biblical Ark account as you explore the “Flood Legends” exhibit.
