What to know before you visit
Does your family like to hit up skating rinks during the Christmas season? If so, head to ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter and take a spin on the Glice® rink with our life-size Noah’s Ark as your background! It is an opportunity you won’t want to miss during your visit!
Glice® is a type of synthetic ice that acts just like real ice, allowing you to skate regardless of the temperature. That means you can enjoy skating even if we have a warm night in Northern Kentucky during ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter!
Since the Glice® rink uses synthetic ice, you must use the special skates provided by the Ark Encounter. You can skate for as long as you want for just $5 during ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter. For children and people who are just learning to skate, a special whale-themed skating prop is available at no extra cost.
You’ll enjoy festive lights throughout the grounds and zoo, and the Ark will be lit up in rainbow lights. And, if you get chilly, head inside our state-of-the-art 2,500-seat auditorium to watch our incredible show, “Encounter the Wonder,” shown on our massive LED screen inside the Answers Center. This program captures the wonder of Christmas by beginning in Genesis and tracing Christ through the early pages of the Bible, to his birth, life, death, and resurrection.
Then stick around after the short animated show to sing along to traditional Christmas carols with resident artists Steve Hess & Southern Salvation.
Upgrade your ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter experience to include touring the Ark's exhibits and grabbing a bite to eat at Emzara's Buffet with our exclusive holiday pricing after 5 p.m. Learn more on our event page.
Continue celebrating this special time of the year with a trip to our sister attraction for ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum! Catch a glimpse of the amazing events that surrounded our Savior’s birth with our live nativity. After that, stay toasty with a cup of hot chocolate as you walk through our botanical gardens immersed in breathtaking light displays.
As a way of showing our appreciation to our neighbors, we’re offering free parking for residents in eight counties surrounding the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum (Kentucky’s Grant, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Pendleton, Gallatin, and Owen counties and Indiana’s Dearborn county). Simply show us your driver’s license, and you can enjoy free parking.
